Default heads up display and instrument cluster

The computer read out LED screen is getting worse and worse (2000 S4 ) Dealer cost is almost 1200 to replace. Apparently I canonly use new parts due to the need to resetthe odometer. Any ideas ?

i dunno wha tricks there are... but odometer and all the information stored in the dash panel insert have to be saved. we use the factory scan tool and adapted to the new cluster.

Unfortunately your only other option is to live with it...and most people do.

Why not look for a used unit, check with Audi yards. I have a '01 A6, found a
used instrument cluster at Shokans, NY, about $ 300 shipped to my house. My
local Audi dealer installed it for $ 130, including matching 2 keys to it.
The dealer recorded the "old" and then "new" mileage in their records, which I
will include with the car records when I sell the car.

That's a pretty good solution - you savedover $1,000 versus new. The problem (and I don't mean to rain on your parade) is that the used one is just as likely to develop a problem as your old one. You don't know how long the used replacement is going to work properly before it fails, and there's no warranty on it.
