Default Intake (with Jeff)

Well today at 2pm I met forum moderator "Jeff" at the mall in Arlington.... We took a long ride in crappy traffic down to my house to install the intake. I'm not great at this sort of stuff and well, Jeff is. When we arrived the engine was hot so we decided to take the Evo out for a spin!

wow! and I mean, WOW. He has the fastest car I've ever been in, and I've been in some stuff. I rode in his Evo 8 and coming out of my neighbor hood he nailed it and got to 80 before you can say "wow" it was a blast. I decided to take him on our backroads, where he got to really release his beast in its natural enviroment. The thing has some pull, it is really something.... Perfect day out to, 75 degree, sunny, light breeze. Our backroads are really a great place to go for a quick spin and going through twisties and turns with that much power is quite a good amount of fun. Anyway his car is awesome and I'm very jealous. So we get back and start working on the intake.

The intake install was pretty simple, Jeff did it like a pro. We installed a Lltek motorsports intake with a custom heatshield from AZ forums. Both fit very well, had to bend the heatshield a bit because he sent me the one for the B5 model but it still protects my intake very well. So the install took mabye 20 minuets to take all the crap out and make sure stuff fit, then 10 minuets to put everything in.... start up the car, (rev rev), (WHOOOSHHH WHOOSHHH) you could hear the air being sucked in and pushed backed out, it sounded AWESOME! We take it for a test drive, and immediatly you can hear the turbo a little bit more and that awesome "Whoooshhh" sound everytime you let of the gas when boost is being produced. My car was fairly loud for stock turbo/dv valve. The sound should get louder when I install a new DV, and definitly when I chip it. I'm very happy with the mod.

Noticable performance: Increased Throttle Response, mabye a horsie or two... it feels faster and less restricted. I recommend the mod, it was done very well.

My thanks to Jeff for the help!

It set me back a fair amount... Lltek's shipping hurt me, cause there in Canada.

Intake with shipping: $320 (B6 A4)

Custom Heatshield: $90 (A4)

$410 dollars for 1hp and some throttle response..... priceless

I'm very happy with it, next mod is definitly chip! I want speed! Jeff shamed my view on my A4, god his car is sooo amazing. I dream of how fun it is

Very nice. Yes, that's a bit pricey for 1hp. But it's all part of the package you know?

hey amze, do you notice any intake drone when you're crusing on the highway now? every other car I've had an intake on has had horrible issues with droning around 3-3.5K rpms, which is right around cruising speed on the highway. I don't want to touch the stock airbox if it's going to drone. so, any annoying noise?
