Default JHM short shifter install problem

Hey guys i just bought a JHM shorty from a zine member..

it looks in good shape no damage or anything... fully rotational.. and oiled

When i installed it the "stick" is not settled in the middle... its tilted to the right side..

also... i can't put it in 5th or reverse.

I tried it twice and now my bottom bolt is stripped.

This is so frustrating, any help would be appreciated.

you installed it wrong.

you have to align where you want it to sit idle before you tighten it up. i actually was putting pressure on my shifter to the position(to the right) i wanted it while tightening the bolts.

also make sure you're shifter assembly is in the correct location on the 2 side rails. that plays a big role in how easily your car will get into gear when shifting. the positioning takes a lot of trial and error. tighten then test how it feels, then loosen, test how it feels, etc etc.
