I've got a couple of mods on my 12v... were they worth it? I guess so - the car is more enjoyable

Ok I don't know how much you've read around, but replacing the actual air box on audis doesn't really do much until you get a bt (big turbo) but you had the non turbo from what I remember reading. However, if you got a cone intake it would just add sound ( I did the same thing). I know that if you don't have a turbo the heat isn't as big of a problem, but I'd still recommend getting some sort of heat shield if your going with a cone intake.

I'd recommend looking at some of the DIY (do it yourself) threads. Things likethe custom intake (cone), debadge, clear corners, tinted tail lights, side markers, front grill tinting can all be done for very cheap! And can make your car look really cool, imo.

Have you thought about getting some rims, tint, etc? btw you have those pics of your car?

ya my friend down here in sac said he can cut me low on prices for tires/rims... also another buddy of mine says his friend will tint for very cheap as well. I have a pearl colored audi, and i plan on debadging b/c its one of the easier things to do, ill take full around shots of the car(its in the shop) and post.

Thanks for the recommendations, Ill be looking into the lights/tinting/cone w/ your suggestions of the heat shield. Ive paid 100% for my car and Ill have to wait for money to come in from work to continue on my endevors(sp)

Like Ive posted before, i dont neccessary want a full on race car, i just want something to hold my own, take on the average joe who'se driving daddys car....Overall ill just fix the exterior and the looks with the suggestions youve helped me with

Welcome to a horribly great world of audis and falling in love with them... I do one mod, then I want to do something else. Then when I think i'm done someone will say dude your car is soo hot, and I will be like not really, there is SOOOO much more I want to do!!! Then there are those things I want to do... but are to much $$$$ ahhh what a great love hate relationship

i have exactly the same car, but FWD instead of quattro.
just a heads up, if you buy new headlights, which in my opinion is a must, then you will need to buy new fog lights and mount them. our headlights are a 3in1 set, main beam, low beam, and fog lights. aftermarket headlights only have low beam, high beam and city light (w5w) which replaces the fog light in that housing, the city light is just for looks. so you will need to get some fog lights and mount them in the lower grills. instead of cutting holes in the lower grills either buy or make your own mesh grills then mount the fogs behind them, thats what ive done and it goves a realy cool effect.
my mods........

Helix smoked projector hadlights, ebay.
Helix smoked side markers, ebay.
fog light addition, xenon.
custom made alimimunmesh, all 3, lower grills.
KnN with custom chrome pipe, also a custom 1st peice intake (lower grill to KnN).
Window tints, 32% front, 22% rear.
stock 16" rims re-sprayed to metalic grey.
painted and audi decaled calipers.
chromeexhaust tips.
painted springs.
anodized piping.
H7 SilverStarheadlight bulbs.
pedals ect
new vacume hoses, not exactly a mod, but its an upgrade.
and the whole sound system.
theres a couple more things that i cant remember right now aswell.

parts and mods arnt cheap for audi's and you just cant go into walmart and buy them, becuase its not an honda. you'll be kept busy with just the little mods alone. keep checking on ebay for cheap gear. i got my KnN and chrome pipe off ebay $75 excelent buy, KnN and autozone wanted to charge me $250 for a 57i kit, in other words the exact same thing as i got off ebay.

 

hey, unless you want a REALLY loud exhaust, keep the resonator or get an after market one, i know mines gone. and its a headache on roadtrips
