I have a mechanic who I have known for a long time and I trust but he isn't really familiar with Audi's. Would he need to be experienced with Audi's in order to do most of this stuff?

I am going to post a thread in the regional forum in a little bit.

Thanks for all the help everyone, I know I am asking a ton of questions but I am just not that car knowledgable. (I'm trying to learn haha)

ORIGINAL: Genix

Well the oil is leaking pretty bad. I have never really done any automotive work so you can probably understand my nervousness of trying to DIY. Plus I wouldn't know where to start, which part is the most important? I still do not have the car inspected so I need to get the CEL off quickly. The KMD guy said it was from the camshaft sensor. Should I try that first?
Well, im pretty sure the cam sensor is behind the t-belt, you must remove the tbelt to get to it.

Where is the oil leaking from? The valve cover, or the oil pan, or badly from both?

Sounds like you need to find a decent vw shop. Start by calling a few and ask what they would charge for t-belt kit install, and fixing the oil leaks. thats the first run of stuff you want to do, to get the cell off, and stop the leaks. Stop the bleeding if you will.
you'd probably be looking at about 1000-1200 for that stuff. But, you got the car fairly cheap, so just chalk it up as part of the cost of the vehicle.

Yeah the fact that I got it for cheap helps a little bit. The oil AFAIK is leaking from the oil pan. Is there a listing of VW shops or do I need to just call mechanics around here and ask if they do VW's?

Where are you from?

Maybe start a new thread here or in the regional asking who knows of a good mechanic in your area.

Try the yellow pages and look for an independent mechanic that says they specialize in VW.
