There is no lag on the ko3, none at all. You are feeling something else.

It just plain doesn't make much power till you hit at least 3000 rpm, then torque especially shoots up like a SOB. When I punch it from a dead stop, I take off fine and everything, but as soon as the turbo spools and starts making some decent pressure, my tires are pleading for me to let out.

You should feel the boost well before 3000 rpm but, if you have the AC on you will feel something like lag. Since you live in Dallas and it's the summer, I assume you have the AC on all the time. Try launching with the AC off....you should see a noticable difference.

Well, the thing that makes me wonder, is that when I feel the power is also when I hear the turbo. Below 3k, you can't even hear the thing. Also, it's just such a drastic jump in power on my buddy's dyno sheet, the power more than doubled between 2500 and 3500.

Are you kidding? Of course there is lag. Even with the 2.0t there is noticeable lag.

I agree that 2000-3500 rpm is the heart of the power band with the K03, but you should start to feel the turbo around 1800 rpm which you should reach very very very quickly. It will take some time for you to get used to the way the turbo feels coming from a natrurally aspirated engine (I assume your S10 was naturally aspirated). I went from a big 4.2 liter V8 to my 1.8 liter A4 and it took almost 6 months to get used to the way the engine pulled but, I realize now that there is pretty much no lag.

The lag is minimal, but 4000rpm!? I'm fully boosted well before that on my turbo, you should have tq well before that

I also got my GIAC chip done for my ko3 at Imagine Auto in Kansas City. I was wondering, I am upgrading to a ko4, do you know if they offer any deals for the programming since i've already had it done once and i've only had the chip for about a month?

There is lag in every single turbo... However sometimes it is not as noticable as in others.
