intake gains are minimal if any.The sound is themain difference, it will growl. Throtle response will be better, but it may infact take away from low end torque and add one or two hp in higher rpms's. No heat shield is necessary with the 2.8 engine.

Obviously us 2.8ers dont have to worry about the hot turbo, but I'd still suggest putting in a heat shield. There is a DIY on here that will cost you like $30...
Sure it wont hurt, but i highly doubt youll actually feel a difference between having or not having a heat shield on a 2.8. Im not saying there wont be a decrease in intake temps with a shield, im saying youre not going to feel the difference. NA cars dont have to worry about heat soak slowing them down, thats where the difference is noticed when nothaving a a heat shield with a cone intake on a 1.8t.
