Default K04 INSTALL HELP

putting a k04 into a 97' a4.

the outlet or neck of the turbo is point at a different angle then the
stock k03, when mounted on the manifold. so the hoses routing to
the intercooler don't line up. am i supposed to change the hoses
when i change it to a k04? or is there something wrong?

the stock k03 points downward to the ground, while the k04 points
to the passenger side fender. we're swapping a new engine, with
the car that came in with the engine pulled, parts missing and bolts
everywhere. and the turbo was blown and this k04 was our only
option. any help would be appreciated, thanks guys.

sounds like you have K04 for a transverse style 1.8t - that kind goes into a TT not the A4 - you have the wrong turbo for your car

If it looks like this its for a TT

This one is for the A4

Isthe K04 housing thesame size and shape as the K03?

If it is, on the back side of the compressor section, there's bolts that hold the housing in place. when you loosen the bolts, the housing will rotate. Oncee yourotate the housing into place, the primary thing you need to watch for is the wastegate acuator and making sure the wastegate rode has enough tension. You might have to remove the boltsholding the wastegate actuator bracket to get the proper positioning.

If you take a pic or 2, I might be able to give a little more instruction.

if you have the one with the long neck, it's simply the wrong one, it should look exactly like the K03 you pulled out, no diffrent.

What does the name plate on the turbo read? It should be a K04-015 I believe.

no no, i definatly got the right one then. its just the angle that the outlet is point is wrong. i took a look at it, if i unbolted
the 4 bolts holding the intake side housing, and rotated it counter clock wise, one bolt then i guess it would line up right.
but is that okay to do?

Yes, it's ok. Just make sure you reinstall the wastegate actuator correctly.
