Default K04 Turbo and Magnaflow Exhaust

I plan to get the K04 turbo for my 98 1.8T and I already have a Magnaflow Exhaust with 3 inch piping...I'm wondering is that sufficient or is there another recommended set up for the K04...Sorry if this is a stupid question...I couldn't find it by using the search option...Thanx!

3 inch is more then adequate for a k04 setup.

2.25" is right about near minumum what you need, anything higher will make your turbo have less backpressure and spool faster... but until boost hits.. you will lose power. but the quick spooling K04 wont have a problem hitting the spool.

Thanx for the input guys...I appreciate it...So I guess i'll keep the exhaust that I have there right now....I have another question though...With the K04 can I upgrade and get a front mount intercooler as well or is it pointless because it works with the stock one?

You wont need a FMIC unless you are running the aggressive K04 file. Though you may still want to get it depending on where you live.. heatsoak is not good for a turbo car.

I saw a KKK K04 Turbo on ebay for around 400. I'm wondering if this would be a bad idea to purchase one on here...I know i still need the Giac chip, seals etc. Which i would have to buy seperately but compared to 1700 from the AWE website I think 400 just for the Turbo is a really good deal...What do you guys think?
I'll even post the linik...
Ebay

i wouldn't buy from ebay, alot of times people will receive in falty product that looks fine, and then sell it on ebay for real cheap, rule of thumb, if it looks to good to be true, it is. It's best not to try and cut corners, there's alot that can be said for peace of mind.

i got my ko4 new from eurocode tuning, $695 shipped, plus another $40 for the fit kit.
