Thats so cheap it has to be crap. #1 it is not made by Borg Warner (who makes all K04 turbo's) #2 I wouldn't trust it to last very long #3 I wouldn't trust it to even act the same as a K04 from BW - so you might have a programing issue when you get the K04 file from GIAC (this is not an option is you want to see any gains over your stock turbo).

My sugestion - if you have a bad turbo - go to G-popshop.com and either purchase a K04 spec turbo(around $600) - or have your K03 rebuilt into a K04 spec turbo cost is $425 +25s/h
I wouldn't feel secure knowing that turbo might fail at any moment - and hope that when it did fail it didn't send somthing into the engine and blow that too

you will need supporting mods if you are goign to install a K04, yes it is a direct bolt on part but you still need propper airflow through your engine along with other factors to consider. i just put my second K04 in due to what i believe is was too much back pressure from my stock exhaust and cat. you will need the follow parts to properly support a K04:

K04 Chip Programming
Front Mount Intercooler
Aftermarket Exhaust
High flow Cat
Upgraded DV

You will also likley want to use a new waistgate valve to smoothout the power band, but isn't nessary.
I am regretting not doing the exhaust, cat and FMIC in my car first. My K03 started squealing so i needed to replace it anyway so i went K04, but am now on my second one.... and the worst part about it is that i knew better but desided to "chance it" until i could get the exhaust done. It's always better to do it right the first time, you will save yourself time and money. I'm scrambling for the exhaust and cat before i hurt it again. Just my $0.02.

Well, no you don't need a high flow cat, nor a FMIC for a K04. However, they will help. A less restricive exhaust is however recommended.
