Keeping You Engine Clean & Running
I went to a mechanic to ask about maintaining an A4 motor - His name is Yuri is a specialist on European Mechanic. He said these steps:
* = Read More Below
For already own A4
1) Maintain a same brand of Oil, Oil Filter, and other products by the same company ( ex. Mobil or BOSCH or Other ) They work together and better warranty
2) On a day off and when you have money goto local Dealer and change all fluids like ( Oil, Tranny Fluid, Power Steering, Brake Fluid. Ext.... ) * Read Below *
3) Change any old wiring that is easily replacable and is low cost
4) Change Air Filters and all Air Related Things that effect engine and performance
For People Buying A Used A4
1) Change All Fluids ( If there is more than 1K miles left till oil change do that, anything under 900 Miles - Change ) *
2) Find Out what product your are going to use for oil, oil filter, and other
3) Check wires, cables, and hoses for leaks or dirt and either clean or change the part this includes Spark Plugs ( not spark plug wires )
# 2 on Owned A4 - Always GoTo Dealer becuase they know your car, your local oil changer doesnt and blame Dealer if anything is broken because they relpace whole part
# 1 on Buying A4 - Once You Change The Oil from Under 900 you can now start new and keep track of that 3K oil change.
Overall just Maintain your A4

you dont need to go to the dealer for everything, unless your totally incompitant and cant do anything to your own car, and if thats the case, then you shouldnt own a high maintenence vehicle like an audi

I do agree with changing the fluids. While Audi claims these are "lifetime" fluids, they do accumulate gunk, metal shavings etc.
I;d suggest new transmission, differential oil every 60K, occasional clean out of the power steering fluid, and flushing the brakes every 2 years.
