Default Key programming--Does anyone know the truth

Just bought my daughter a 97 a4 2.8 quattro -- only has 1 key -- no remote -- theres too much confusion on this site as to what will and what won't work remote wise -- I know it has all the functions -- alarm, trunk lock, engine kill -- the works, I know this because my daughter managed to set it off about 2 in the morning one night-- what I need to know is will the switchblade key work or not -- do I need the remote only -- also some definitive instructions for programming. Please if you don't know for sure please don't respond, if you do know pop in a link or the instructions themselves.

I really love the car and am trying to get everything up to snuff on it.

Thanks G

thanks-- sorry I was a little terse -- I appreciate the feedback-- I was on a different site and forgot I had switched over to AudiForums--the other site was all over the place with answers and I couldn't get a straight answer.

Thanks G

just make sure that if your a4 has remote trunk,be sure to buy the 4 button remote and not the three button, they look extremely similar.

Hey, sorry to thread jack, but i have a similar question...

Well my car is a 98.5 and i currently have the 3 button remote(open, close, & panic).
I was wondering if I got the Key with the 4 buttons, which has the trunk button, will i be able to pop the trunk open with it?
