finished changin the oil just in time....t storm started. Kinda funny considering someone i graduated with died from a lightning bolt this year.

Anyway, the question. What do I do with the used oil?

I usually take mine to Autozone or similar store. Depending on the store they may have a disposal fee. Or you can take the used oil to one of those "Jiffy Lube" places. After I had a falling out with an Autozone Mgr I started taking my old oil to "Jiffy Lube". They asked me how much I had, I pored the oil in there storage tank and they didn't charge me anything. Also, some places are particular with the container you bring the oil in. You may wish to get a repore going with one of your local stores if you haven't already, knowing the employees in the stores can really help.

dig a big hole in your back yard and pour it in there, outa sight outa mind

just be sure you didnt leave the drain plug in the oil pan and burry it too

 

thanx for the confidence, drain plug is back in. Now I didn't have a torque wrench to take it to 40ft-lbs, so I just tightened the **** out of it...hope that's ok.

thanks for the info irocbrd. I put my old oil in the empty new oil canisters. hope that'll do. we'll see tmrrw, hoping it doesn't lite the house until then

be careful man 40 ft/lbs really isnt that much its like oush on the end of the ratchet or wrench like just a lil past tight, you can strip the pan if your not careful esp on the aluminum OP's like on our cars

 

i'll work on getting a torque wrench then....so 40 is still good? or should I go higher?

 

40 is fine what i was saying is your probably went more than that if you were pushing on it very hard, 40 reallying isnt that hard to do so you gotta be careful not to go over that cuz you risk striping the pan
