Default Leaking FPR?

I've been told my fuel pressure regulator is leaking - no, not air, but fuel. This sounds like a fire hazard waiting to happen. I also have some leaky gaskets - the valve cover and the tensioner gaskets, although there's never any pooling of oil in the driveway.

How many hours of labor should I expects for the gaskets and FPR? Thanks...

The fpr isnt something that can go bad. there isnt any moving parts. Why would someone tell you this?

But the gaskets are about $45 for both at ecstuning.com and takes about 3hours for doing it for the first time. Its simple and just takes a little time. The fpr is even easier (its held on by a clip), but im sure yours doesnt need changed.

I have had a FPR go bad before (not on the audi), so it can happen. Maybe it gets clogged or something, but they can fail.

I'm not quite sure why they would say that, but it is a reputable shop that specializes in foreign cars. I'm going to get a second opinion on that then. He claimed fuel was leaking out of the FPR, but perhaps it's coming out of one of the feeder lines. I don't really smell any fuel under the hood, so if it is leaking, it can't be that bad, but nothing to take too lightly either I suppose.

I was quoted 3.5 hours labor for those 2 gaskets and the fpr. That sounds a bit excessive, doesn't it?

No, not according to cincy's post:

So, 3 for the gaskets, another .5 for the FPR, sounds close.

Well you can get a used fpr from here or vwvortex (you need a 4bar) for ~$20 shipped or $35-45 new. But seriously, if you have any time or car knowledge, do this yourself. Its not hard at all and will save you $200+ ($60/hr) for the job. There are plenty of how tos for this stuff.

As cincy said this is a really easy task. The FPR replacement is literally 1 e-clip that you need to remove. But I also suggest cleaning around the FPR so debirs dont fall in before removing the e-clip

The gaskets are also pretty easy, hardest part is lifting the top off and not having it snag on athe threaded bolts. I suggest either getting another person to help you with this or get on a step ladder so you can get directly over it and pull straight up. This link here will give you info on how to do the gasket https://www.audiforums.com/m_61552/tm.htm
