Lexus to Audi

Lexus to Audi
Just recently I got rid of my Lexus ES. I'll admit that I didn't like cars at all before I got that Lexus (i'm a motorcycle kinda guy). I loved it (the Lex). Unfortunately, its time has come and gone and now I'm looking to buy an Audi. My g/f got me into Audi despite my doubts about them. From what I can tell, though, they seem to be great cars.
Anyway, back to the point: I'm looking to buy a 2003 Audi A4 1.8. 03-04. I tried looking for any major problems with those years. Any recalls and such. If you guys can give me some insight as far as that goes, I would greatly appreciate it. I would also would like any feed back as to why you guys own Audi's instead of anything else. Moreover, what I can expect with this model year.
Thank you!

RE: Lexus to Audi
should be a great car for you. if the mileage is high just make sure the timing belt has been changed and if so you should be good. just take it for a test drive with out the radio on and listen for noises and ticks

RE: Lexus to Audi
I'm thinking of going to Lexus - 7 months into an A4 lease and Audi refuses to replace warped rotors (the run-out as measured by my dealer shows they are outside normal tolerances). The dealer stood behind me, telling Audi there are no signs of abuse or overheating - but Audi denied the work under warranty, claiming that brake rotors are a wear and tear item. This after 7 months and 8000 miles... I know this is probably an isolated incident, but based on how Audi chose to respond I will not get another Audi nor do I recommend them - despite the fact that I absolutely loved the car up until now. I don't think Lexus would treat the issue this way, and I know BMW's warranty specifically covers wear and tear items and they also do all your routine maintenance for free during the warranty period - Audi needs to step up if they want to be tier one... just food for thought if you are considering an Audi.

I've had my A4 for 7 months, and don't have any complaints. If you're going to get an A4, I would spend the extra $ and buy one from the dealer. All used Audis are CPO, and Audi's CPO program gives you an extra 2 years/50k miles, whichever comes first. I'm sorry for those whose experiences with Audi have not gone well... every car manufacturer will have some dealers who treat their customers like sh*t. The only complaint that I have against Audi, is that when I took my A4 in for its 50k service, the dealer didn't wash my car like they're supposed to. I have 2 dealers within 30 miles of me, so I'll go to the other one for any future service.

I love Lexus. i highly recommend them if you're thinking about a change. Any year LS, ES, but second gen. GS' are the models to get. I don't know much about their SUV's, or their sport coupe, but Lexus are great cars. They're also really friendly. If you're thinking about Mercedes, don't even think about it unless you can afford it. A new transmission will cost you up to $5000 for a C Class tranny. Lexus/ Toyota will run up to 2000 depending.
