Most cars you can turn the ignition to the first lock where the radio will work and the engine isn't running (without killing the battery). Is this possible on the A4?

If you don't have an aftermarket system yea it is. But you don't need to turn the ignition to turn on the radio.

 

I don't mean turning on the key to the position where the CEL is on. Just the radio and the gauges are off.

Along with the radio, the air is usuable and the gauges light up.. but the gauges are always lite, as long as theres a key in the ignition or theres a door open...

 

for me actually i can turn off the car take out the key and press the button for the radio/cd and it will work

 

yup it does the same on my car. if i have the radio on and i shut the car off all i gota do is hit the on/off switch to turn it off then hit it again and the radio turns on. the gauges and everything are not on but the radio is. the subs in my car will not work tho. for that you gota put the key in the on position. its great when your trying to be discreet in the car and not have any lights on. that combined with tint and you are set
