Looking for advice
Folks, I'm a long time lurker and an Audi enthusiast. I had a question for you guys and am looking for options.
I have a 2000 A4 1.8T quattro with 115K miles, engine rebuilt at 72K miles due to sludge issues. Recently, the transmission failed.
So, given that scenario what would my options be to get the most value from the car.
1) Sell the car as is? If yes, who would be a willing buyer?
2) Fix the car and then sell it. My concern is that the least i'll need to spend is 2-3K to fix it and i'm not sure whether i'll be able to recoup that cost.
3) Sell for salvage. This option will give me the lowest value for the car.
4) Part it out. I don't have the space, tools, and time to do that.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Since you didn't list "have a rebuilt tranny installed in the car" as one of the options, I assume that you're ready to look for a newer car and have already given up on this one. With that in mind, I was going to suggest parting the car out. But it doesn't sound like you have the time or inclination for that.
My second choice would be to try to sell it "as is", and hope someone who is looking for a bargain will come along and buy it. There are probably people out there who would be willing to buy it and then stick in a rebuilt transmission. The fact that the engine was rebuilt at 72k would probably be a positive selling point.
Have you decided on what your next car is going to be?

I'm thinking of buying an RS5
