can someone please explain to me why it is necessary for a 190hp v6 engine to be at 3500rpm at 80mph? for the 4 cylinder turbo engines..3500 isnt so bad (still pritty high) but for a v6 engine....i dont even know what to say. does anyone else find this annoying?
actually the 1.8T and the 2.8 trans are geared different.. the 2.8 trans is much more ideal and stronger so i wouldn't complain if i were you cause once i do my clutch im swapping in a 2.8 trans.. cant wait!

tested my 1.8t on the way home, was at 2800rpm at 80 in 5th on my tip. looks like it might be even higher gearing then then manual 1.8t.....

now see thats just stupid. on every car i have owned the manual version always has better gearing. 2800 and 80mph..rrrrr i want it.

sean1.8t, are u sure they are swappable? i saw a 1.8t at the junk yard that i got my transmission from and it looked alittle diffrent, but i could be wrong. heres a picture from when i did my transmission, anyone got a picture of a 1.8t so we can compare?

not only that but are u sure the engines are in the same place? all the mounts and stuff? i thought the v6 was set forward alittle more than the 1.8t

try driving a civic with full exhaust and an Si tranny at 80 for a couple hours. I used to drive 2 hours on the high way taching 4k in the civic, when I got to where I was going I felt def it was brutal, I like my Audi much better. I would never go back, especially because I think the Audi is just as fast lol

Whats the Jetta 2.0 like A4BRZ? I'm so glad you raised this, its been on my mind since i first hit the highway. Even if the car can handle the rpms what about the gas consumption. My old Saab 9000 5speed was going 90 at 3000 rpms, it felt great. Cruising without knowing your putting a certain amount of extra usage on the engine. This is the single reason i think about getting a different car, another audi of course...

Annoying sometime because I want to shift into a non-existant 6th gear over 70mph. But I suppose it's for my own good, because it encourages me to stay under 100. Besides, I enjoy acceleration more than top end.

My loaner 07 CVT was much taller geared, very quiet at 100mph.
