Default Low Beam Replacement?

My right side low beam has burned out and need to replace. Called the dealerand they told me it's an H7 replacement. The low beam on my car ('04 A4) looks likethe lens for HID. He said it was a halogen. After looking at it, I'm wondering if he got mixed up and told me the high beam bulb number (it's a halogen).

Has anybody changed the low beam on this model? Is it HID as I suspect? Any tips on replacing? Thanks

Here's what a xenon bulb looks like:

Here's what a halogen bulb looks like:

That should show you all you need to know to determine what you have. The halogen is a 9006 or similar, so your H7 will look a little different, but you should be able to tell the difference between the two VERY easily, and then you'll know what you're dealing with.

The other way to know is, when you shut your lights off, do they go out instantly, or fade out over about a second's time? If they instantly shut off, gone, they're xenon. If they shut down at the same rate as your fogs do, they're halogen.

HIDs have a yellow sticker behind the light, for high voltage.

Thanks everyone. Replaced the bulb today and it's an H7 alright. No HID. Took out 3 screws, removed the light assembly and popped off the back cover. Single bulb. The lens fooled me. Easy to take care of.

Yes, just because you have projector housings doesn't mean you have HIDS
