lowering an '06 a4
Hey guys,
Need some advice. Got an '06 A4 2.0T FrontTrak. Standard factory suspension. Got new wheels and tires coming next week. 19x8.5 wheels and 235/35ZR19 tires.
I want to lower it, but I know next to nothing about lowering cars. Can anyone help with how far to lower? What kind of shocks and springs? What's the best brand? How much can I expect to spend? Anything else I need to consider?
Thanks in advance ... I've already learned a lot here on the forum.

Go for some coilovers. They are height adjustable. If your on a budget, the Tein basics are only about $750, but if you want something nicer you could get some Tein SS. Check out ecodetuning.com they have some good prices.
What are the advantages of the coilover design? Is it that they are adjustable? Or do they perform better because they're one piece? I am on a budget, but I also want good performance. If $750 is the budget level, what does a mid-level or high-end suspension run? I've not heard of Tein ... how do they compare to some of the brands I've heard of (Eibach, H&R, Bilstein, etc.)?
Thanks for the info.
So, when I'm trying to work economically and spread my money between performance, appearance and convenience/comfort upgrades (also want rear spoiler, door blades, stereo upgrade, chip, exhaust, etc.) ... you think I'll be satisfied with the $750-800 coilovers? I am not exactly a complete performance junkie who absolutely has to have the ultimate of everything, but I do like a car that performs well and one that I would be proud to drive in the company of other 'performance' cars.

I'm sure you would be happy with the Tein basics. I haven't heard a single complaint. If you want to also be able to adjust dampening than get the SS version, but I know I would never mess with that so I would personally get the basics.
