Default lowering a 98 quattro with sport suspension

i am looking to lower my 98 with coilovers or springs but there is big difference in price. some say that just putting springs in make your shocks wear out even quicker. but some say that with coilovers you might need struts. they are adjustable which is great for the winter time but im not sure if its worth it. what is the best way to go? any good brands?

my personal choice is H&R race spring with bilstein sport grooved shocks.
$800 i think.

if you are going to lower with new springs you WILL need new struts.

C/O is the whole system, you will pay more but the fact you can adjust them is awesome. it is your choice in the end on how much you want to spend.

well the best they say is to go C/O so that way you can adjust it as you please. but if you need to save some money then just go for springs and struts. if you get C/O you dont need new struts cuz the kit has everyting.

might as well spend a little more $$$ and get some good adjustable suspention if you are planning to change your ride height around... i would recomend:

D2 Racing Coilovers Feature:

Fully adjustable (36-way dampening(51mm shocks), and ride height)
Custom spring rates (3.5, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, and 22 kg/mm)
Pillow ball mounts included w/ camber plates!
Telflon-coated threads
Flawless CNC finish
2 Keys for adjusting ride height
Carefully matched spring and damper rates
1 year warranty

your lookin' about $1000.... but it's everything you could ever need

hey jetspeeeeeeeeed, where could I find those coilovers at. $1,000 seems kind of cheap for coilovers, you have them? Good product, no problems?

i actually found them on ebay... i know, it seems like no one likes to shop on ebay.. but there are some good products and deals out there. i have been researching on new suspention for my 01 a4 and that is what i'm going with.. right now i have PAX front and rear adjustable shocks with non adjustable springs(2.0 drop) i really want the coil overs... so sometimes i could dump it real low and take some pics or show it off... check it out on ebay... they are really great looking and are capable of precision tuning all around
