Default MAF anyone??

So after troubleshootin my stupid on going intermittant code P1137 I think I need a new maf... I pm'd a few of you Jonny 1.8 to try and get a new one throught the forums but was too late on the purchase

About to just get one from ECS plus some random little things and I got a pm from a AZ'er with a higher flowing Bosch Maf part number

High Flow Bosch MAF ‘0 280 217 117’

Now he said that it will read more than the stock one up to 210-215 and it could run any setup with out BT

is this true ?? why arent more people running a higher flowing maf..seems like it would be more benificial

I have a 00 ATW 1.8T tip quattro (Tipsters rule) except when you are putting in a test pipe (shout 1.8T)

thanks TS

I dont know if I talk to you but i would first try disconecting the MAF to see if that is the problem, the MAP sensor will take over and if it runs better you have a bad MAF if there is no change then you MAF is fine and you have another problem.. I dont know about running a different MAF might makes things worse..

yep Johnny that was me.. scammer classifieds aka maf air metering problems

well I thought I pm'd u back but I had already detached the maf sensor (the one that sits atop it with the rubber oval thing over it) and the car did run better but noticeably but I still got a engine sputter when I would back off the throttle.. plus my boost gauge is spikey from 10-15 and Im chipped

any more thoughts?

so the maf wouldnt be good ?

vw we need to get together on this one..seems like the phantom code.. does your turbo act like mine..spurty and spikey?

plus I have a abd cold intake it sputters out the air not cleanly when I let off the gas

lets figure this out for our cars

I get a sputter as well when i back off the throttle to once in a great while, have not figured it out yet myself, i just think mine is my horibly delphi injectors.. do you get any misfires.. might want to run a log and see if you are i know i am.. i still need to pick up one more coil pack..

do you have your stock N75 valve in or a race valve?

I have a n75 race but I dont have it in... Im not getting miss fires ...I dont think.. wouldnt miss fires being throwing a different code? I only get that P1137 (OBD autozone scanner) (I know I should get a vag) so I dont know

I can also punch it pretty hard and get more boost but I hear a slight ticking noise near my drivers side wheel.. would the intercooler react to a bad maf like that or a big vaccum leak? God help me

might be a bad vacume leak.. Im getting a ticking noise on the other side of my car..lol
as for the misfires you can have multiple misfires and never get a code, i have misfires all them time a code is in the ECU but i never get any check engine lights, thats why i said to run a log, my car was acting really funny, saw i was getting 25-35 misfires a log cycle (for misfires they run cylces of ever 60 seconds) i did some coilpack swaping watched the misfires follow the coil packs then bought new coil packs and solves some of my problems.. always better to run some logs if you can..
I think the clicking is something totally unrelated unless you have a bad check valve somewhere and you think the sound is coming from the tire area..
