Hey thought I'd check in I'm expecting parts in a few days I have my heat sheild for the intake and I bought some vacume hose from Napa to replace the old ones just to elimanate that possibilty of a vacume leak. Hopefully I can get the parts by the weekend otherwise I'll just do the intake and hose to see if that helps out for now.

hey vw ...good to hear

did you buy a heat shield from AZ or make one? What parts did you end up going with?? I fixed a couple of the in line check valves labled #32 on the bently/vag com parts list for the vacuum system and it helped out alot..thinkin that may have been my problem but I havnt cleared the code yet

Just bought a serial vag to a older toshiba laptop with ross tech software on it for the car so I can diagnose properly from now on..

Hope your parts help..you should def do the vaccum lines first ..then the heatshield ..clear the codes to see if thats it..then move on to the maf if the code keeps coming back but only then b./c you may not need a new one..

Hit up the thread when you do the work brotha let me know

Good Luck! TS

Well I replaced some vacume lines, MAF, & plugs. I uplugged the battery threw the process and put it back on clearing the codes. It started it up and was running better than ever I took a 20-25 minute ride life was good .I let it sit about 20 min went to a friends house 10 minutes away no problems. Than a couple hours later about half way home that F****** CEL pops back on WTF! I thought I had it this time but I guess not.I'm going to read codes and see if there the same tommorrow than I'll go from there probaly starting at the O2 sensor before the cat.*Did those check values clear your code? Just curious hit me back let me know I'm glad at least your having some luck running better.

Damn! Well I didnt clear my light because I dont have access to a OBD or Vag but I have one coming that I bought off Ebay with a older laptop included only $90..you should look into it ..I can send you the sellers name and let you know how it works out.

Im hoping I can further diagnose with that because I started getting my abs and brake lights flashing at me intermittently as well

The valves are all over the vac system they are half grey and half black ...its helped but really doing a vac test with a air compressor would be best to see where the leaks are coming from ....So I guess the MAF wasnt it... you replaced a amp ?? whats that? also what plugs did you do and how did you gap them??

Ok I just got back from Advanced auto and my MAF code is gone but I now have 2 new codes.
P0140 which is my O2 I'm going to check the connection than replace it.
P0411 secondary Air Injectoin system Incorrect flow
I'll have to look into this one than I'll be back. Atleast I'm getting some where!

*****Well just looked into it and the secondary air pump mite be failing. At best it could be a check valve or split hose or line.I'm going to worry about the O2 first because the breather is just emmissions parts that I guess pushes air air into the exhaust to burn of all the micro carbon?I don't know personally thats just what I read.I have had a squealing noise on startup which the pump will cause but other people have said it lasts a minute or more until you start driving.Mine only last about a second on cold startup than the O2 is suposed to take over once heated.I guess I'll see once I replace the O2 sensor what happens and pickup a couple check valves up too.

- In brighter news for my car I put my wheels and they look nice.Check it out I posted them saturday in the A4 forum the bodys a little rough I'm stripping all the molding and repainting soon though.

I picked up a universal bosch O2 sensor (part # 15733) from Pep boys today and used a connector supplied with the kit It costed I think about $80 with tax.I saw cheaper ones on www.racepages.com and www.autopartswarehouse.com for $65.95 but I didn't feel like killing the new MAF sensor. It kinda stalled out once today shifting into second and I just wanted to fix the problem quick before I burn somthing else out.I really wanted to buy one with a connector but I didn't feel like waiting a week to get it.Ecs had one for $129 + shipping $140 that I would have gotten if I didn't have to drive the car.I don't recommend the universal if you don't know how to strip wires and have a little electrical knowledge. There a good chance of the wires being cut the wrong length, conections pulling apart, moisture getting to the connection. Its about a half hour job but you should take your time to do it.For another $60 bucks its worth knowing its done right with no future problems.

Yeah I replaced my pre cat o2 sensor with the one from ECS Tuning about a year ago. Those $129 sensors were super cheap about a year ago..they were only like $40 no BS. I think my stock o2 sensor was fine and I ony had a vacuum leak

so did you clear your codes? did they come back?? how is the car running now??

Im waiting for my vag com n laptop ..should come today

I got rid of the p1137 when I replaced the MAF.I got rid of the p0102 when I changed the before cat O2.I put about 35 miles on in then I had the CEL for P0411. I just replaced a secondary air hose that was on the intake that was colelapsing so I'll see what happens know. The car feels good and peppy now I'll get on it tommorrow and see how its running. Than I'll get to a new muffler, intake, or just finish up the body so I can get the car painted soon! Yeah it will be nice to get that laptop hooked up to your car you'll be able to have your car running great after that with saving yourself some headaches.

I changed the intake hose and I'm still getting the P0411 code. I also had a buddy pick me up another Bosch O2 sensor with a connector allready connected to the sensor.I'm going to try to return the universal or I think this one will perform better although I had no problems with the universal one.
