Getting rid of 02 Passat and since I have been loyal to VW I test drove the 2006 3.6L Passat yesterday...sweet ride. I have also been looking at the 06' A4 and C-class MB. Have heard not so good news on the A4 in terms of service quality, bang for the buck and reliability. I know all makes have their problem. Just a little advise if you will!!! Thanks in advance.

Service would be a dealer problem, not a car problem. Skip the C-Class - old mans ride, but buy what you want and can afford. Money not such a problem..... RS4, all the way!!!

Reliability? Nah the current A4 line has very few problems. I've had my 2005.5 for over a year with zero problems and 15k miles. I wouln't think of driving another brand after owning two A4's.

 

consumer reports has stated from 2002 on that audi's reliability has been on the rise.

 

I'm with Jest. My 2000 A4 had a lot of issues, 99.999% of them caused from the previous owner beating the ever living crap out of it and not taking care of it.

My 05, has had no major issues, the only mechanical issue was the thermostat housing needed to be replaced and had to have one of the rear seat locks adjusted. Other than that it's been great. My dealer is also great to deal with. I can rock up and pretty much ask anything of them within reason and it'll get taken care of without any fuss, threats or arguments.
