Eh? Did you even see my earlier post in this thread? Keep in my that some people muck everything up, no matter how easy it is. So for someone to ask that question of themselves before they cut into a $500 set of headlights is quite acceptable.
Uh yeah... I saw your post. That was why I responded.

I repeat:

You aren't going to "...muck it up". It requires drilling tiny little holes that are later sealed up with clear silicone. That's the "damage" you'll cause to your light housings - nothing else.

FYI: You risk far more damage by chipping your car. {Turbos and manifold seals/gaskets vs headlights.}
Ironically, I see that you decided the risk of chipping your car was OK; even though the potential "muck up" is financially greater than the "muck up" of a headlight.

Maybe it's an individual thing. Everyone has an individual tolerance for risk. You think a chip is less risky than a clear corner mod. Maybe you concluded that the risk of a chip is long term potential failure whereas the headlight mod is an immediate risk - if the clear corner mod fails, it's going to fail at the time of modification. For that philosophy I will concede. You're right.

I guess I was fortunate enough to watch someone do a clear corner before I attempted mine. That gave me confidence and my perception of risk was minimized.

And as for my chip, I researched the risks, investigated and determined what the best maintenance procedures are in order to minimize long term failure and, now, I try to adhere to those procedures.

"ironically" I have stock 2 piece headlights and do not have to drill my lights. I am speaking for the benefit of people who don't have the experience in modifiying that you seem to have.

And my earlier post said:
lots of people have done that mod - it comes out nice if you take your time - plug up the holes with clear silicone.
Have you SEEN the inside of my car??? HAW HAW. Dude I have modified more **** beyond the point of no return than you can think of.
I was quite aware of the risks involved with the chip, and had done my research - as I do with every mod I make.

Never know when you'll get a re-enactment of "When Dremels Attack".

Obviously a misunderstanding. I thought you were speaking for yourself, not for anyone elses benefit.... Kind of why I kept going back to your quotes.

No, I haven't seen the inside of your car - gonna post pics?

Brush aluminum tip shifter plate
Carputer (mp3, navigation, VAG)

Some very interesting ideas put to good use.

I like the relocated HVAC; very smooth - looks OE.

Did you do the Carputer and the integrated USB from an idea of your own or did you go off of a tech article?

No tech article rxists that I know off - that whole project was planned out and done through trial and error. I am not the first to do this mod tho - Sharkweb on AW is the first to my knowledge that put a computer in his car. But all I saw was one picture of his dash to get an idea from. The USB in the console was my idea tho.

Was a major project, and a major PITA at times. But I like having 5000 songs at my fingertips, movies, and navigation when I need it. That HVAC reloation was probably the most frustrating thing I had to do.

What do all the little buttons do? "V A S M" and the circle symbol on the right.

just buttons for the screen.... menu, up and down for menu selection, etc - circle symbol is screen power (which I never really need to use)
