VW Dealership: have their service center cut the key for you for about $30(again, prices vary(and VW is cheaper than Audi))
AUDI ZINE: in the DIY section there is a writeup on how to program your key to your car that takes all of 5 minutes.. i'd post the link but AZ is down right now (the thread is created by 'Neo1130' iirc

Exactly. But a new key can reduce reliability for the same reasons that a chip can. It's a personal choice.
