Mine came on for a fuel air mixture problem, it was my MAS. My 2000 1.8T has 110,000 miles on it though. That check engine monitors the emmisions, at least that gives you somewhere to start. Just out of curiosity, have you put in or recharged a K&N filter lately? Sometimes if you over oil the filter a little bit it can get through and end up on the wires in your MAS. Just a thought.

Well the Symbol is yellow, and it looks like a Electric shock to the engine, hard to explain, but it is on the spedometer, it comes on everytime u get ready to turn on the car, but goes off as you start the car. Its located around 9pm on your spedometer

Its a yellow looking sign, looks like electricity striking the engine. Located around 9pm on the Spedometer.

I don't know about your car, but I have an 02 A4 1.8T and on the gas cap it says that if you don't tighten it 'til it clicks then the MIL light may come on with the engine w/bolt symbol.
Sounds crazy, but if your car's the same way, that could be all it is.
