Default Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)

So, driving back from home and I noticed the MIL came on. So sad... its a 2009 A4B8 2.0T - Sports Package

I called the dealer and the rep asked me to drive it for a couple of days to see if it will go away. The following basic checks were done:
- Fuel cap does not seem to have any issues
- Fuel is full
- Engine is running normal from what I am used.

Has anyone run into this issue? Should I be worried at all? It's really frustrating when these things happen as it consumes your day thinking about it.

Reading on some more, I see what the possible issues can be. But none of the issues has been for a 2009 model A4. Its worry some that I get these issues for such a new ride.

Even if this gets fixed, is this something I need to worry about. and take action on the overall quality of the car?

Love the car, but its been in shop too often now that I am starting to question its quality. Maybe I need to ask Audi to take this ride back and give me a S4 hahaha... right, I will keep wishing

Funny that you post this. Mine just came on Wednesday. I also have a 2009 A4 with 18,000 miles.

I was planning on driving the rest of the weekend and filling the tank and see if it goes away on cycle. Otherwise, I'll take it in on Monday to get it checked out. I wish the MMI had OBD readouts, actually kind of silly that it doesn't.

Ya, I have about 26,000 miles on mine.

I took it in today and they told me that it was related to emission control and that some valve was not functioning properly. The Audi service rep was such a annoyance. I wanted to get some details on what the issue was but he would not give me any info and kept trying to get rid of me.

He mentioned that there was a part in order to replace that valve and I will have to take it back in next week.

I have the printout of what the error code is. I will scan and post it here when I get it scanned.

The error code is : P201500 (Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor/Switch circuit Range/Performance.)

Does anyone know what the impact of this error code is? I am thinking this affects the power output and emissions.

But if anyone has details please post it.

Oh and I found another link
http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tec....dtc.table.htm

don't think these apply to the B8's as they seem to have a different pattern.

Thoughts?

OK so I think I found someone else who has had the same problem as I have. They have reported the same DTC.
Check out:

Two things you should notice which I had not looked for is:
- Loss of power
- MPG lowered.

Those were the exact symptoms my car had.

I ended up taking it in Tuesday morning, and they checked the MIL and found four faults, all relating to emissions and the intake manifold. My valves were either getting stuck open or shut, which was affecting my airflow.

Resolution was to replace entire manifold under warranty. They completed repairs Thursday afternoon and I had the car back. It has been working great since. I was a little nervous to have such a major repair made on a car with so few miles, but it is covered under warranty so I am relieved.

yeah the intake runner motor is bad. they'll fix it free. the same thing happened to me. i didn't notice any difference in how the engine ran before and after. there's so much new technology under the hood that these kinds of minor problems occur.

it's better than a sticking gas pedal.

good to hear that your rides are back to normal. Mine is in the shop. But they don't have the intake manifold and they have to order it. Sigh I won't have my ride for the weekend.

Like tighr said, it really worries me that something like this will blow with this mileage. Hmm wonder if I should keep this ride after warranty lol .

The faults were due to a cracked intake manifold according to the audi service rep. I found some details on this at:
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ntake+manifold

Screen shots explain what and where the crack could have occurred.

And thank god we don't have sticking gas pedals lol
