Modded 1.8t or...
Right now im in a slight dillema, i've asked a similar question before but this one is in more depth since i've concidered an alternative...anyways right now im looking at a $12k 2.7t (quattro) but thats all the money I have, it'd be stock for quite a while. However, the reason i'd concider a 1.8t (quattro) is because the body style is more attractive IMO and I could get one with similar miles to the 2.7t for about $9-10k and have $2-3K left to invest in mods. I would first go with a an ARP chip ($500) and be at about 200hp. From there I am not sure the best way to invest the remaining $2-2.5k for more power? What would you guys suggest if im wanting closer to 250-300hp? I would plan on doing nearly all the work myself...however im no engine builder so doing major mods isnt really an option right now, what are some practical things I could do..(IE. exaust, upgrade/modify the turbo..etc)?

the 2.7T you are looking at is that a S4 or A6 ? how many miles are we talking on these cars ? also to get a 1.8T into the 250-300 range you will need more than a chip and forget about APR there customer service is **** and if you want to upgrade turbo's down the road they will not give you credit back but if I were you and I ahd 2k to spend I would get the A4 and find a used K04 and a exhaust system and be happy for a little while anyways
Its a 2000 A6 2.7T with 93k miles on it...The 2000 1.8T im looking at had like 96k miles on it, so they're fairly similar. I wish it were an S4, thatd be a no-brainer but those are a few thou more...[:@]
I was thinkin the 1.8T would be great due to its smaller size and the fact that its lighter...However, with a 2.7T all you have to do is chip it and its already at 300hp. The only thing im worried about with the 2.7T is the fact its Biturbo, so thats twice as much time/money if they were to go out or have any problems. What do you all think? Would a... say GIAC chip, exaust system and intake system be a good start for a 1.8T or should I go ahead with the used KO4 and exaust system like clconversion said? How much more power would I gain with a KO4 and exaust system, maybe even with a chip as well?
