Default Is Moding My A4 worth it?

I currently drive a 98 1.8T 5 speed A4 .
Current mods are - Evoms diverter valve , greddy exhaust , stock ko3 turbo.

My issue is , I went out last night to deer park ave , which is a place where all the hottest and fastest imports meet and race and whatnot. I went with a couple friends I know and I just realized how slow my car is. My one friend has a cherry red 85 RX7 . It has like 90K on it and its like an 85 and he gave me a ride in it. Its stock except for boost gauge , dual exhaust and blow off valve. I could not believe how fast his car was. It just pulled me to the seat and just beasted like a rocket ship. He bought the car for like 4 grand and I cant believe how cheap and fast it could be. My other friend has a DSM motor , talon , He gave me a ride in his car and the car just launches like a rocket and makes that crazy BOV noise. It is seriously reallllyyyy quick.
How come his 1500 dollar car he bought seems like one of the fastest cars I have ever driven in. I know he did some work , but god damn , i dont think an s4 hooked up can touch it. All these guys had were like cars from 1986 to like 1990 and they all were extremely quick and fast. What would it take to do that to an audi? Or is it just not worth it?

I was thinking of just not modding my car anymore and keeping it like this. Use it as my luxory car cause the car is smooth but very slow compared to this older peices of *****. But also instead of putting more money into my car lke chip and mabe bigger turbo , I can just get a DSM talon for like 1200 and hook that up cheap and make it 5 x as faster as my car will ever be.

Sorry for writing so much , please give me some insight on what you think.
Thanx!

Its called a chip or bigger turbo, as you said..... Come on man... [:@]
DSM and Audi are two different animals. If you want a 16+yr old car that is totaly old school but is fast, thats your decision to make. If you want cheap power, and to look good, chip your Audi and you should be pretty happy with it and not feel like such an outkast with your ricer friends as far as power goes.

i honestly think my car is alot nicer looking and alot more luxorious , but they get props too cause their performance is amazing. Im starting to think it comes down to money and how much it cost to MOD. Moddnig a mazda or DSM prolly cost 1/4 as much as it is for an Audi. Mabe thats why all these ***** do it like its cake.

EDIT - man , i really think I need a chip. Hopefully when money is right in about 2 months , ill be chipped. Thattl b the day.

Then keep your Audi for luxury and save your money that would have gone into modding it to buy a "fast" car. I almost bought a white second gen. RX7 turbo, but decided it wasn't worth it considering how labor intensive and tempermental rotarys are.

Ive owned 2 second gen rx7's and they were extremely reliable. I put 40k miles on one and about 25k on the other, both and never had a major issue with the engine. The transmissions are another story.
1st one was an 86 that had 99k miles on it when i got is and the 2nd was an 87 and had only 55k miles on it when i got it.

yes i thought it was worth it tell i maxed out the internals then imho it wasnt worth spending tons more for a built motor when the evo could do it on the stock turbo and thats where i am now
