Default mounting the passport 8500

alright so i just got the passport 8500 radar dectector, and the thing is awesome. now i want to hardwire it so it doesnt constantly run off the cigarette light, and also so i can get rid of the damn "curly fry" wire that goes to the power source. i have the hardwire kit, and have checked out a few write ups in audiworld about doing it, although i dont wanna dremel my car just to mount the mute button (besides i have the 2.8 walnut trim... kinda dont wanna mess up)

any suggestions on how to mount the mute button??

do you have any dummy slots on your dash, just above your headunit? that spot would work perfectly

nvm, i just read you have an 01....i think on the 00+ they put the cupholders up there...hhhmmmm....how bout fabricating your own housing for the switch and mounting it down underneath the dash? When i put in my stereo i had to find a spot for the big *** remote adjustment, i ended up hiding it down in the lower right corner of the driver side footwell area

not a bad idea... i'm kinda toying with the idea of replacing the cupholder with the a6 change drawer, and doing the fabrication based offa audiworld

The write up on AW is good. The rear wiper fuse is a great spot but just be careful to wire it correctly.

I have an 01 and I need to find a good place to mount that mute button.....I was thinking the left side, basically the same place where they mount it on the B6....I don't know if that's possible or not.....if anyone has any suggestions of where to mount that mute button on a B5...let me know
