moving sub from car to car... what will the audi need??
I'm moving, basically, an MTX 12" MXS 1204 and an MTX 4200 amp from my mustang to an Audi A4 (2004) I just bought (10 speaker 1 CD Concert head unit); since i spent so much damn money on getting everything installed properly with wires and all in the mustang, I was wondering what do you guys think will be the reinstallation price at a place like circuit city? In audis, is there a special european car RCA output converter for the stock head unit to the subwoofer output?
I wish i could just do it all myself but there simply aren't any guides and stuff to installing subwoofers in Audis. Any input would be appreciated... thanks.

I work at Best Buy.... SCREW Circut City hahahahaha
actually best advice.... don't go to a name brand store like circut or best buy, their turnover rate is too high for skilled installers. Go somehwere that is a specified Mobile Audio store, they'll have more skilled installers, like Car toys (good) or Mobile Music (better) or Magnolia Hi Fi (best). Magnolia does home stuff but they have amazing installers. price'll prolly be around 100-200$ w/o wires. for a PERFECT install of an amp and sub

Alot of people on this forum have done sub add-on installations on their audi. No need to hire someone unless you prefer to. You should so a search and read up, and come back with specific questions.

It doesnt have a sub out you will have to use a high to low converter, and powered subs are pieces of **** imo, all the ones i have had sucked ***.... just get a decent amp and a 10' sud and you will be good
i think thats what i will do. I know powered subs really dont sound good. I was figuring to get it for convieniece sake. But if i did, i would regret it then trash it then buy a seperate amp and sub, thanks
use a line level output....tap into your rear deck speakers, then from the converter you are good to go.
i suggest visiting www.crutchfield.com ....whether you are gonna buy from there or not, do an online chat with an employee and tell them what car you have....they should mention the high/low converter and how to install it...thats what I did. They helped a lot, and if you dont get good answers, wait a few mins and try again..you might get someone else on the other end

Do not use a high/low converter - you don't need to, and if you do you will compromise your sound quality. You can tap into a line level signal either behind the head unit or from the rear amp (on Bose systems). There have been a number of posts on this - do a search.

Don't mean to threadjack but I'm about to replace all the speakrs in my lower doors and install a 5 channel amp. The car stereo place that is going to do the install said they have to use 2 high-low converts so I can still use my fade/balance because I'm not replacing the headunit. Then my amp is going to be running 50w RMS to each door speaker. Are you saying this is a bad way of doing it?
