Guess what, i you do it right in a stick by pushing the clutch in then you won't burn it up... You can also get a stage 2 or 3 clutch and do it without frying it. I did it in my 2.8 when I had that and I never fried my clutch.

god your dumb, a brake boost is using the brake on a TURBOED car....you hold the brake in and the gas and push the gas gradually until your boost builds up on your boost gauge....then let off the brake and hit the gas....

its a turbo only thing....you were just doing stupid **** and reving and basically dumping the clutch at 40mph

My friend also has a 01 1.8T and he does it all the time as well. He has had his car for over a year now, actually almost 2 and he has NEVER had any problems with it. Would you like to contact him? GO AWAY! This has nothing to do with my post anymore so shut up!

Josh

Also with me saying I did that on my 2.8 I realize that I was not building boost up but I was telling you that if you know how to do it right you can rev your engine up and drop the clutch and it WON'T burn it up! I am not that dumb. I know that I can't build boost up with a 2.8 unless I have a SC.

i hate to say it(really hate to), but Kemp is right on this one. in regards to a MANUAL car, when doing a roll from a given mph, a good technique is to "brake boost" as he puts it. this is not hard on anything but the brakes. many people use this technique to gain the edge. on a TIP car, this is not a good idea for obvious reasons..

taking it out of gear, reving it, and slamming it back into the same gear while moving is not a good idea at all. very hard on your clutch

Ok, well I will be put in my place then. But I had always heard brake boosts where bad. And I have had experience with the clutch thing along with my friends and they have never had any problems. Just speaking from my experience.

ANYWAYS... Back on topic...

OK, so after searching around i have found two things about gutting the cat that doesn't make sense to me... 1. Some people say you don't need to add a pipe inside the gutted cat and that you can just leave it. Others say you do need to add the pipe. Which is it?

not all superchargers.some centrifugal superchargers need to spool just like turbos do to make boost

Just speaking from my experience. well even if you or your friends do not feel or think that it is causing damage doesn't always mean that you aren't. this isn't something that is going to kill the clutch on one shot. it's something that will drastically lower the lifespan of the clutch

Which is it? cut, poke, scrape, slash, jab, saw all that honeycomb crap out of there and smooth it down the best you can. then re-instal. no extra pipe needed

i honestly think that if you WANT to burn up a clutch...then keep reving it while moving and then dump it...

just see what happens, and i bet $ that everytime you did it you smelled clutch...its the same damage that "slipping" a clutch (in a launch, or not knowing how to drive) will do...
