Default My 2.8 got chipped

All I can say is WOW!! I got an upsolute chip today and it is freakin awsome. I have much more torque at 2K - 4K. I was doing 85 on the highway and I could still pull strong by barely hitting the gas. I also got my transmission tuned to the sport mode. My tip now shifts very fast and is very responsive. This was the best $500 bucks I have spent on this car so far. I recommend this chip for 2.8 'ers.

Upsolute claims an increase of 18 hp and an increase of 19 ft/lbs. My ecu had a different number on it, and so they had to send my ecu program by e-mail to the guys who run upsolute in Austria. they e-mailed the program back to the guy I went to in Dayton, Ohio and he put the program onto my ecu chip. Upsolute does not make a tip chip, but apparently you can mess with the transmissions settings when you hook up th VAG. They adjusted my settings to make the transmission shift faster. they also removed the safety net when I am in tip mode. I have to shift now, the computer will not automatically do it for me anymore. OK, i think i got it all out.

The tranny coding with vag com doesnt change the response in shifting gears.. All it does is take away the kickdown function in tip mode, change shift points (and downshift points in regular auto mode), and it wont up shift automaticaly for you in tip mode if you wait too long. The giac tip chip is what affects the faster shifting/response.. I think you have the placebo affect going on as far as the tranny coding goes.. I have done it myself and it does help out though! Glad to hear there is a more aggressive ecu chip out for 2.8ers.. Have fun.

Is it possible to obtain the tip chip even though I do not have GIAC ECU software? So they cannot change the tranny timing from changing the codes? The guy who sent the e-mail from Europe said this might act the same way as the tip chip. So what should I expect differently from a tip chip that is different from what I am experiencing now? Any info would help. i am game for having the best.

What the hell is with these people lately? Can you not read???? I said above, the tip chip affects the speed/response of the gears shifting (making it faster) Youve probably realized by now that the automatic tranny is slow shifting. The coding that you had done only changes the rpm that it will shift at.. As in, it delays up shifting, it will take longer in the rpm's for it to shift. ALL the tip chip does is shorten the time that it takes to go from 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 4th etc. It even shortens the time that it takes to engage into Drive when shifting from park.. same for reverse. Do a freakin search on stuff you want to know.. Isnt this common knowlege to use the search?!?!?!!!!????? I posted a Tip chip article yesterday as a matter of fact.
