MY CRUISE CONTROL WON'T WORK!!??
Hey guys,
I have a '99 2.8Q 5 spd..
the cruise control will not come on...
I try to set it but the light never comes on and it doesnt work..
I tried to locate the fuse to see if it was burnt but the fuse diagram in my owners manual only showed the fuse placement for automatics...
anyone know which fuse it is for 5spds?? or have any other tips ??
thanks for any help

RE: MY CRUISE CONTROL WON'T WORK!!??
did ur car used to have a light? if not...I had a similar problem when I first bought the car....I have no light on the dash that indicates that my cruise control is on. Besides that, I had to jiggle with mine for the longest time to finally figure out how to engage and contral the speed. before looking for a fuse, run it up to the speed limit on the hwy. and then flip the cruise control off, then on then set...if it works you will feel it, and there will be no light

If you want to check the fuse but dont' know which one it is- check them all. Most cruise control problems are either the switch or the control module. Mine was the control module, but rather than buy one on ebay for $60 I broke out the soldering iron and soldered half of the circuit board. It's been working great since, but I do notice some problems with the switch every once and a while. I might have to cycle it off and on twice before it takes. There are some good threads on here somewhere and I think there is a tech article on one of the Audi Forums (maybe AudiWorld?)

The '99s don't have a CC light - mine doesn't.
Your problem could be a couple things. Either a bad or dirty switch, or possiblya vacuum leak somewhere that's preventing it from engaging. There are a few write-ups on how to clean or replace the switch on here, try searching for it.
