Is this a variation of this a failing exterior handle?

My interior handle isn't the sturdiest feeling bit, but doesn't rattle and goes back to where it (I think) should go. The exterior handle however started to intermittently work, and now that the car sat for awhile fails to work at all, while the interior does (from the passenger side...).

I had the skin off looking for an obvious disconnect, but the outside handle linkage looks ok from a skinless perspective. This smells like one of those:

"unlock the door!"
"stop using the handle!"
Unlock the door!"

moments.

This forum rocks.

 

If anyone is interested, I may have a spare handle that should work fine. I will check it out just to be sure. I can let it go pretty cheap, just shoot me a PM.

 

go fix it at a dealer, ask them if its included in the warrenty
