Hello,

I knew the oil burning issue when I purchased so I'm not phased too much buy it. I was just this morning thinking, "I really should ckeck the oil level." Bought the car with 23k and at 27.5k the low oil light came on today.

So, I want to top it off tonight. What is the best/safest oil to get?

Mobil 1 0-w40 EUROPEAN FORMULA or Castrol Syntec EUROPEAN FORMULA 0 w30. To be sure you have the right stuff, check the back of the container for the words "VW 501-502 Approved"

If I were you, I'd do a full oil change. If you can do it yourself, even better.
