I've been to Kentucky.....Hell, I've been to basically every state in the South East......
I can almost GUARANTEE you were cruising in one of the nicest rides out there.
Were people staring? CA / Euro plates in a brand new Audi.....they probably thought you were a celeb.
C'mon now....I live in Louisville (not far from those distilleries) and drive the same car but S-Line (and manual). You have to remember Kentucky is full of Horse Farms and old money; hell, I've seen 3 different S8s in the last two weeks.

Anyhow, nice ride and pics SoCalJoe and I hope you are enjoying the Bourbon. Next time pick up a bottle of Woodford Reserve, it's like bottled Heaven.
Well, I"m finally back home now. Left Elizabethtown,KY Friday at 6pm(pacific time) and arrived home Sunday 7am, what a looooooonnggg, tiring drive it was. My girlfriend and I switched driving back and forth, and check this out, she's very cautious driving at night and drives slow. Her avg speed was about 60mph and had the display showing 645 miles-to-empty on a full tank, that's the best I've seen yet. After driving for 260 miles, we pulled in to a gas station and filled up again, and I could only put 6.3 gallons..damn, that's over 35+ mpg. I must admit, the towns in KY we visited was not as I expected, it was actually waayy better. We drove around downtown Louisville, it has its bad part like other big cities, drove across the bridge to Indiana, was nice. Pretty much most of the places we went to were so damn clean, and people were much nicer. Now for Elizabethtown, since that's where we stayed, we had a chance to drive around and kinda' toured the city and I just fell for it. Moving there from OC would be a possibility.

While driving around town, I actually saw a good number of Audis running around, a black B7 Avant pulled next to me at a light in Louisville. A red B5 with 2 chicks drove up next to my car at a Walmart parking lot in E-town, they looked in, then drove up to the front of me and looked back again so I waved at them and gave me a big smile.

I had a really great time out there, lot of places to check out but didn't have enough time. I saw the Vette museum on our drive back off the 64fwy, I wanted to check that out but couldn't due to time...maybe next time

Driving through other states, I was within the speed limits (well most of the time). I was warned that other states are very strict about speed limits and that I could get pulled over for going 1 mile per hour over. The only time I was speeding was when we were still in California on the 15fwy where I hit 105mph. In other states, the troopers can actually hide on the side of the road with their radar gun out waiting for speeders. I've also seen several unmarked cars pulled cars over. I got lucky in Texas, I kept my distance from a vehicle in front of me about 200 yards. The vehicle was doing about 80 on a 70 and I thought I'd keep pace. We went up a hill and after going up and over, BAM!! a trooper parked on the side of the freeway. The vehicle in front of me passed him with no time to slow down and the trooper just took off and pulled him/her over. I started braking changed reset my cruise control back to 70.
