Need help with CEL and tranny code on B6
Here's what I got. It's the wifes car, totally stock 2004 a4 1.8TQ. 44K miles Solid CEL so safe to drive. She explained to me there have been no running problems or wierd behavior. I've only seen rndom misfires on ones with ICMs. The transmission one is puzzling. Any advice? I feel so stupid about this. I would have probably done everything if it weremy passat, but the A4I am hesitant because it's still under waranty. I'm just looking to see if I can diagnose better thant the stupid dealer.

It's not a can bus. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/car...ions/a4s4.html I don't need another version, this works fine. Thanks for the help.
Also, the driver side rear outside door handle fell off somehwere. Anybody got a part number for that? I don't think the dealer would cover because they could just say someone stole it.

its not a case of nit pick but I hear what your saying and a simple answer is ( different tools give different answers ) so your diagnostic could be wrong ( P1296 for instance = short in coolant temp sensor but my other diagnostic says its 02 sensor bank 2 ) im just stating the facts
The simple fact that it will pull a code means it works. The modules I need to access work fine on the "Key" interface. Ross-tech says that too.
im going to go with you on this one because its a tranny problem and not my area
17095 - Transmission Fluid Temp Sensor (G93): Implausible Signal
P0711 - 003 - Mechanical Failure - Intermittent
17095 - P0711 so its the same thing according to my data but 17095 doesn't exist in my data ( it stops at 17092 ) at a guess it seems the sensor is at fault
