Need help taking my lowers off for painting
I have a 2002 A4 3.0, and of course audi was lazy to just put little paint to the lowers.. i want to paint the lowers but i have no clue how they come off...for the back there are two secrews under the a big medal pieces but it does not look like they really hold the lowers.. i am 99% sure that there is something else thats holding the two bumpers together...and i have no clue about how to take the front off...please help...
mask them off and paint them on the car. Very few people actually ever take them off, it's too much of a PITA.
There is more than likely adhesive as well as screws, clips and bolts holding them on.

Many people will tell ya the front and rear valence (the "lowers" under your front bumper and rear bumper) can be taken off with relative ease. I haven't done it, but I believe they're just held on with some little clips that you can dremel out and replace. I haven't done it myself, but that's the impression i got.
The lowers that are underneath your doors are a giant pain to take off. Definitely mask those off and paint them while they're on the car.
There are many walkthorugh and DIY for this, so look around for them. Search some of FlyingB5's posts if all else fails.

I have a 2002 as well and painted my own. I took off the sides with ease. Just pull off the black plastic weather piece and start unscrewing from the top and the bottom. There are screws in each wheel well also. I ended up masking the front and rear and painting while on the car. Looking back, I would have taken them off. Check out a4mods.com...I think there's pictures and instructions for bumper removal. It's hard to get a nice coat of adhesion promoter, primer, paint and clear, in the little groove all the way around. That will be the first place to chip, if it does. Good Luck.
Oh yeah, it's worth buying nice paint and clear...believe me.

No seriously, I had very little experience and am very perfectionistic, myself. Research it and try to educate yourself before doing anything. Get good quality materials (paint, clear, primer, tape, etc.) and TAKE YOUR TIME. Painting is not a fast process for a reason. If you do pull it off, chances are there will be some things you would do differently. Next time will be better. And that, is learning how to do something new. Take a chance, you'll be proud of what you can pull off and how much money you might save.
