I'm new to this forum and to the audi world it self. I just recently purchased a 2003 A4 1.8t wtih the cvt tiptronic tranny. I would like to upgrade the turbo but they have told me the transmission can only handle about 260hp and as i read and heard you can pull the car to supass that amount. Do i have to rebuilt my transmissionso it can handle that much or is that just a myth or inaccurate information. need some advice plz.

do a level 10 rebuild...other than that the tip trannies are made of glass and cake.

 

you cannot do a level 10 on a CVT .

What you have is a CVT and is not called tiptronic.

There is actually a guy running a BT on a CVT right now.

There are a few threads on audizine about it .. hard to believe.

They are very fagile though , and expensive.

 

sell your current car and get a manual or a tip with a stage 3 build from level 10.

 

yea your best bet is a manual cuz all you need is a bad *** clutch to hold as much power as you can throw at the tranny
