Needing Advice on Audio speakers 1996 A4
When I first bought my 1996 Audi A4, the right driver side door speaker crackled, since then I've taken out the crackling speaker and have been in search for a replacement. I called a local Audi dealership to see if they could order a non-bose driver side subwoofer/speaker for me. The speaker was going to cost $140 to replace through Audi. Does anyone know of any after market speakers that would fit a 1996 Audi A4 specifications or does anyone know where to a get a cheap speaker online or otherwise??
I'd check out a scrap yard, or maybe find a parts car in the buy/sell section of this forum or on eBay or something. $140 sucks hard... for that, you might as well just upgrade to some aftermarket speakers, which will require custom fitting since no one makes component speakers as small as the factory ones, and if you get coax you can find the right size but you'll need a bracket to fit the bolt pattern. Consult your local car stereo store on that.
you can get adapters to fit 5.25 aftermarket speakers in the doors or someone on here used dynamat to hold in the speakers but i don't rember who try a search under dynamat on the site

You really don't need component speakers. Just get yourself a set of either 4" or 5.25" coaxials and you'll be fine.
I just put 4 inch polks in mine last weekend, you have to make a bracket (not hard), or use dynomat (also looked easy but i'm cheap and had 1/4 inch ply lying around). I somehow got misslead into believing that i had back speakers (which i don't) and bought an extra pair of 4's. I was going to return them but will give you a crack at them if you want.

anyways, theres tons of companies that make 4" speakers. get 4" up front and 6.5" in the back and dynamat works great i used it.
