Default new armrest installed and pic included

hey, got a new center console armrest for $50 at a junkyard and it looks mint. My original is all torn up. Has anyone replaced theirs themselves? Just looking to see what approach they took -replacing the whole thing, just removing the top part (those spring clamps look like they'll be a bitch to get off. I just don't want to break the new one doing it the wrong way. Don't reply with the blindingly obvious generic responses if you haven't actually done this before. Thanks.

Well it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I just replaced the cover. For anyone else doing this in the future, you'll only need a T-8 torx bit to take the 2 screws on the little plastic cover that hold in the wires for the internet cable. All you have to do is gently squeeze the hinges in(you can use aflathead screwdriver to lightly pry it)and pop the lid off. It's kind of tough to get the wires back into the driverside hinge because everything is so tight and small. Put that plastic cover over the wires and screw in those 2 tiny torx head screws. Gently squeeze the hinges and work it back in place carefully so you don't break the wires (not like I have ever, or willprobably ever use the internet cable connector). But here's how it looks now. Sooooo much better than my original ripped up armrest cover.

I have had my A4 for about 2.5 yrs, and the armrest latch broke a year ago. So did the glove box!
