New to Audi, planning on some power..
Hey guys, new to Audis, but not to cars or turbos. I am trying to find out more about modding an A4 1.8T that my friend is buying. Plans would be suspension and wheels, and then with more money comes more power. In the past i ahve heard a lot about a ko4 swap. How much does this usually run? Is this considered a small gain in the full spectrum of a4 tuning?
What kind of setup/turbo would yield near 270whp? Thanks for any suggestions. Also, what are some good tuning sites? I know of AWE and stasis... what else are reputable places to buy things for an audi? Thanks..

RE: New to Audi, planning on some power..
in the true spirit of things, i always say suspension comes first!
if he has the sport suspension he really doesnt need springs, the stock sport springs have pretty good spring rates.
wheels are a must
h&r makes an awsome swaybar setup for the b5's (b5 = 1997-2001) check them out..
if that is too pricey the front swaybar is pretty sweeet on the SPORT suspension, so a rear is really only needed.
if he's non sport, then he's gonna have to get springs, shocks and front and rear sways
of course coilovers are another option...
there are tons of chassis braces and tower bars you can add to siffen up the whole thing
you'd have to go big turbo to get that kind of hp, but there are many software companies that have software that run those big turbo's with pretty good #'s and there reliable too! imagine that...

RE: New to Audi, planning on some power..
thanks again for the help. looks like a good forum. i always would do suspension first, but to each his own. a chip would be nice but thinking long term, might become useless if new engine management will be used with chosen turbo....
which of the larger HP kits are more of a bolt on kit? what i mean is can you buy exhaust pieces now that will (for the most part, if you plan well) mate up to the new turbo?

The K04 is pure bolt on. the turbo is about 800 dollars. Programming another 600. 5 Bar/adjustable fuel pressure regulator is 150 dollars. Will also need a stronger diverter valve 35 dollars to 150 depending on make.
