Ok...here's an update. Took it to a shop and they determined that something was drawing power from the battery. (Told them that was what the problem was when I dropped it off) The also determined that it had something to do with the fan, relay, switch...something along that line. When the disconnected the fan the power draw stopped. Now I know I read someone else's post while researching this but I never saw a solution to the problem. Anyway, the guy had it for nearly 10 hours and could never nail down the exact location of the problem. Suppose I'm going to have to break down and go to AUDI to have it checked out. Anyone have any ideas how to solve this before I empty my wallet to the dealership?

 

Ok...obviously that noise you hear is some device sucking power away from the battery when your car is off. The hard part is that you have to figure out what that device is and then why it's doing that. If you can actually hear it running than it shouldn't be as bad b/c you can pull fuses until it quits and then see what fuse it was. Otherwise it's gonna require some more extensive electrical tests. If I were you I'd try the fuse approach first. You probably need to look at a wiring diagram for the radio. If the radio turns on without the car being on, you may have a relay that's stuck. Using a diagram will help you pinpoint which relay it might be and then you have to find it which is kind of a pain. If it points to the load reduction relay (which I highly doubt it is or you would be having other problems) then it's the 2nd from the left on the bottom row of the relay panel.

Also, since I had an ongoing problem with my ignition switch, I can tell you that I didn't have any of these symptoms when mine died. If your headlights, wipers, A/C, etc. works then I doubt it would be your switch. Electrical problems are always time consuming and frustrating but really the concept is simple.
