new cd player
hey, i have a 96 a4, and was looking to replace the tape player with a new cd player. When i went to the store they said i would have to get new new speakers and rewire the entire car to get a new cd player because it has 10 ohms instead of the average 4 replaceing all this would be 500+ dollars. im not all that into music and my exsisting speakers are fine andy ideas on what i could do for cheaper.
Ask them about adding a speaker amp instead of changing speakers... might cost about the same... but could be less work, and would leave you with much better sound quality.
Powering speakers off deck sorta sucks... you get like 20 watts RMS to each corner of the car... my front speakers used to get 80watts RMS each, and I've noticed a difference with my new amp, which gives them 150 watts RMS each. So, if I notice the diff from 80 - 150... the diff from 20 - 50 (a cheap 4 chan amp would give you 50) ... then its a no brainer
But 10ohms!? JESUS... that is wild.
