New Clutch and it stinks...
I just purchased a 2004 1.8T from the local Audi dealership. While I was test driving it, I noticed that the clutch didn't "feel" right. After inspecting it, they agreed to replace it fora new one. Well I picked it up last week and put A LOT of miles on it over the weekend...approximately 1100 highway miles. Well, I was out of town when my girlfriend picked it up from the dealership and when she got it home, she said that it stunk...like it was hot. So I told her to just leave it in the garage and I'd check it out when I got home... Anyway, it smells like a burning clutch... Even after the 1100 miles, it still smells...
Here's the part I don't agree with...I called the dealership and questioned them on it. The salesman said that he talked to the service tech and he had indicated that it's just because it's a new clutch and that the smell will eventually go away. I'm not sure that I agree with that... I've purchased many brand new cars and the clutch has never smelled like it's burning...not even after running an 11.20 in the quarter on a stock clutch in my Cobra (that thing had to have been slipping). Anyway...it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me...
Your thoughts??

I'm pretty sure that I know how to drive a manual transmission car...being that this is my 8thMT vehicleand I've never had to replace a clutch while I've owned them...
Regardless of that...it smells after driving down the highway...FYI that means limited clutch use...

Highway miles dont really count when breaking in a clutch. I dont know if its possible, but maybe its installed in such a way that no matter wat you do it will slip, even when you have it engaged.
