New engine cranks but wont start
Even if the ecu is not working properly shouldnt I be able to communicate with some other device in the car? Its a manual tranny so im assuming there is no TCU but is there somthing else I can try to scan? Im tring to figure out if the ecu is bad or scan tool is not working or maybe a wiring issue. Is there some way to test the ecu? I want to bring this car back to life so bad it hurts. Please help
Did you say that the fuel pump runs (and fuel comes out of the rail when you had it open) for a couple seconds when you turn the key on? This is normal, and I expect the ECU is working if this is happening (the ECU runs the pump for a couple seconds to pressurize the system). When you crank the engine, does the pump run/fuel come out then?
I'd recheck the ECU connections, maybe something didn't get hooked up correctly during the engine install.

I'm not sure if fuel is coming to the rail when I crank but it does shoot a little when I put they key in the acc position and I know that the injectors are not firing when it cranks. I think your right tho, I dont think something got hooked up or something was hooked up wrong during install. Two things I am certain of, injectors wont fire and I cant scan ecu and my guess is they share the same problem. Is there a ground wire for the engine that maybe didnt get hooked up? If I could just scan the ecu I could get an idea where to start.
