I was wondering if anyone could suggest high performance heads for my car. Mine are going out....well, thats what my mechanic says. I have a 1997 a4 quartto v6 2.8L.

Might be the head gasket?? whats wrong with the heads? Explain and maybe people can help. It might not be your heads. Its an expenisve
operation, so get as many opinions as possible. And I highly doubt there are any "high performance" heads for the 2.8.

i have a machine shop that was going to mildly port/polish my heads starting as $500 if he needed more time needed more money. if i needed new parts ie new valves valve seals lifters springs the cost would go way up. oem valves are about $28 each need 12 lifters were $14 each need 12. if you go custum big valves that is a hole new ball game

"high performance heads"??? Do you mean cylinder heads or headers? Either way there are no high performance heads for the 2.8 much less the 12V. Everything would have to be custom and it wouldn't be worth the effort. Are you sure the mechanic didn't mean the head gasket?

Yeah....its the cylinder heads. The right side is making a clicking noise. So I was going to replace both sides myself.

www.car-part.com

Get a set of used ones & fresh them up. Port match the heads to the intake gaskets.
