well i step out of my car today while the engine was running and i noticed a low whisping sound, i opened the hood and the sound got louder, it seemed to be coming from the front of the engine bay, any ideas? i am due for maintenance in 500 miles. im at 62000k.

 

oh also ive called the audi dealership for a quote on the timing belt, the qouted me 600 dollars plus 160 for parts. but why are the parts 160 when the ecs tuning is 279?

 

The ecs tuning kit includes the water pump and all tensioners and rollers.

 

All of which should be done with the timing belt by the way. Noise from the front of the engine isnt necesarryly a timing belt issue thou. It could also be from one of the accesorys. Although with your milage changing the timing belt wouldnt hurt.

 

exhaust leak?

 

i dont think an exhaust leak ive had those with other cars, more of a belt whisping. im goin to do the timimg belt and all that now. hopefully that will take care of the sound. what other belts are there? maybe i should change them when i do the timing belt.
